AUDITION 2025
UPSIDE DOWN , a theater and film creator team from Fukuoka, will once again create new works this year. In order to create a new theatrical project, an original science fiction series, a completely new feature film, and other attractive works, we would like to borrow not only the help of our old friends but also that of our new friends. It is with this in mind that we are conducting this call for entries. We look forward to hearing from you!

Theater and film project by UPSIDE DOWN. Theaters are rented out to film theatrical productions at the highest quality. The project incorporates angles that cannot be achieved in audience-oriented performances, such as offstage and from the cast's own perspective, to provide viewers with a sense of presence and a visual experience as if they were in the same world as the characters, as opposed to ordinary stage recordings that are often made from the audience's point of view. The program includes a selection of short works that UPSIDE DOWN has worked on, especially those that have never been made into a clear video. The program will also feature some new works that have never been released as theater pieces, as well as newly written works.
CHORD -2019-
SAKURA & HAJIME -2023-
UPSIDE DOWN original series, sharing the same worldview as the stage play “SAKURA & HAJIME with The Team START AGAIN” (2023) and depicting the past of the villain. KINEMA, a time traveler, comes to the present from the distant future for a certain purpose. Her dark background is revealed through various incidents at the Theater Company MIRAIZA, where she gains experience as a stage actress. A dark yet poignant sci-fi black comedy.
JUVENiLE (2020)
Completely new feature film presented by UPSIDE DOWN. The film is a science fiction thriller revolving around the mysterious life form “XEQIATH,” but also depicts the human drama of the main characters as they confront the cruel reality of their situation. Filming began this fall in Fukuoka and Itoshima City, and other locations. The completed film will be distributed exclusively on this streaming site, screened at various events, and released on DVD and Blu-ray.

The story of this film is based on a dream I had in my childhood. I loved spectacular movies such as Spielberg's films, and that night I was so elated that I felt as if I had made a whole movie in my head. It has been about 30 years since then, and I have been thinking that one day I would like to make it a reality. It is only now, after many precious experiences and once-in-a-lifetime encounters with wonderful friends, that I have decided to tackle this film once again head-on. We will finally turn our dream into reality in our hometown, Itoshima, Fukuoka. Please join us in giving birth to “XEQIATH”.
